Description
The first impression is one of serene, minimalist calm. You approach through a quiet garden where a path of irregular stone slabs winds through dense, whispering bamboo. A wooden statue stands sentinel by a small water feature, and the air is still.
Then the villa reveals itself: a single-level pavilion with a sloped white roof, its entire focus drawn to a long, vibrant ribbon of blue water that seems to pour towards the horizon. This is Bel Ombre, a three-bedroom villa in Marigot where the architecture creates a perfect, airy axis from the shaded terrace straight out to the ocean. The palette is deliberately soft: beige and white, light tiles flowing from inside to out, dark wooden beams tracing lines across a high vaulted ceiling.
It’s a space designed not to shout, but to quietly pull you towards the view and the pool that commands it. Step inside and that feeling of openness deepens. The great room lives under that vaulted ceiling with its exposed beams, a space defined by light and cross-breezes. Large sliding glass doors open the living area on two sides, inviting the soft Caribbean air to move through. You’ll find a sleek, white leather sectional sofa here, positioned for conversation or for enjoying the large flat-screen TV with US satellite and Dish Network. A ceiling fan turns lazily overhead. The room balances a modern aesthetic with a welcoming sense of calm, embodying the clean, light-filled design philosophy our team envisioned. From this central hub, your gaze is always led outward, over the terrace columns to the water. A breakfast bar with stools neatly divides this living space from the kitchen and indoor dining area.
It’s the ideal spot for a morning espresso from the Nespresso machine before the day begins. The kitchen itself is modern and sleek, fully equipped for creating anything from a simple breakfast to a gourmet meal. You’ll find a microwave, a coffee machine, an espresso machine, a toaster, and a blender. There’s an American fridge-freezer plus a separate table-top fridge, a dishwasher, and even a wine cellar for your selections. A safe is provided here for valuables. Just beside the kitchen, the indoor dining table offers seating for eight, perfect for a dinner party away from the sun. Throughout these living spaces, the consistent light tiles and white cabinetry maintain that clean, minimalist flow. But the true heart of this villa, the feature everything orbits, is outdoors. A long, covered terrace runs the length of the home, shaded by a roof supported by a distinctive row of pure white, classical columns.
This colonnade creates a shaded promenade alongside the pool, lined with comfortable lounge chairs for reading or simply gazing out. The 13.8 by 32.8 foot heated infinity pool is the centerpiece, its vibrant blue tiles a striking contrast to the white deck and columns. Steps lead gently into the water, and a submerged bench provides a cool seat. At the pool’s far edge, facing the ocean view, a wooden pergola or gazebo offers a focal point: a shaded perch for two to watch the sailboats in Marigot Bay and the distant shape of La Tortue (Turtle Island). For meals outdoors, a dining table sits under the covered terrace, and a gas barbecue stands ready for grilling fresh fish as the sunset paints the sky. The villa’s sound system and Wi-Fi mean your playlist can score the scene. All three bedrooms are arrayed around this aquatic center stage, each opening directly onto the pool terrace through sliding glass doors to claim an ocean view.
The primary suite, Bedroom 1, offers a distinct sense of retreat. Positioned for seclusion, this suite is a separate pavilion reached from the pool deck. Inside, a king-size bed faces the view.
The room is equipped with air conditioning, a ceiling fan, a safe, a TV with US satellite, and a DVD player. Its ensuite bathroom features a large shower, but the special feature is just outside: a private outdoor shower nestled within a lush pocket of tropical foliage. The two guest bedrooms mirror each other in their comfortable, modern design and direct connection to the terrace. Bedroom 2 features another king-size bed, air conditioning, a fan, a safe, and a TV with US satellite, with an ensuite bathroom featuring a shower. Bedroom 3 is furnished with a queen-size bed and offers the same suite of amenities: air conditioning, fan, safe, TV with US satellite, and its own ensuite shower bathroom. Each room uses screened windows to allow natural ventilation alongside the climate control, and each promises you’ll wake to the same serene vista of water and sky. The villa comfortably sleeps six guests across these three rooms.
Bel Ombre’s location in Marigot places you in a quiet hillside neighborhood above a marine sanctuary bay. A brief stroll leads you to the soft sands and gentle surf of Marigot Bay Beach, perfect for a swim or exploring the underwater world. A ten to twenty minute drive will bring you to Gustaf III Airport, and no 4x4 vehicle is required for access. You’re conveniently positioned between two major bays: a few minutes’ drive east leads to Grand Cul de Sac with its waterfront restaurants and watersports, while to the west lies the tranquil surf of Lorient. The vibrant village of St. Jean, with its high-end shopping, dining, and famous beach, is only about ten minutes away by car. It’s a location that offers both immediate peace and easy exploration of the island’s best offerings. For over twenty years, Premium Island Vacations has specialized in connecting guests with properties that possess a clear sense of place.
