St Barts Villas in Gustavia
Stylish harbor town alive with designer boutiques, French cafés, and sunset yachts.
Gustavia is the vibrant heart of St Barts, where French sophistication meets laid-back island living. The harbor is lined with luxury yachts, chic boutiques, and an array of cafés and fine dining restaurants.
By day, you can explore historic sites such as Fort Gustave or browse designer shops; by night, the town comes alive with music, cocktails, and the glow of the marina.
Gustavia is also home to Shell Beach, just a short walk from the center, making it easy to switch between city energy and seaside calm.
The Harbor
Gustavia wraps around a natural harbor that fills with yachts during high season. The waterfront is lined with restaurants, bars, and shops. You can walk the entire harbor in 15 minutes.
The town dates back to Swedish colonial times (they named it after their king). A few historic buildings remain, including Fort Gustave and Fort Karl, both worth a quick visit for the views.
Shopping
Gustavia has the island's best shopping. Designer boutiques line Rue de la République and Rue du Général de Gaulle. Hermès, Louis Vuitton, Cartier, and others. Everything is duty-free.
There are also smaller shops selling local art, jewelry, and beachwear. The municipal market (Le Marché) opens a few mornings a week with produce and prepared food.
Restaurants
Gustavia probably has 30+ restaurants. L'Isola does Italian food right on the water. Bonito has a terrace overlooking the harbor. Le Repaire is more casual, good for lunch. La Guerite opened recently on Shell Beach.
Many places need reservations during high season. Walk-ins are easier in summer.
Shell Beach
Shell Beach sits just west of the harbor, a 5-minute walk from the center of town. The beach is small, with shells (as the name suggests) instead of sand. The water is calm and clear. Do Brazil operates a beach bar and restaurant right there.
It's not the prettiest beach on the island, but it's convenient if you're staying in Gustavia.
Getting Around
Gustavia is 15 minutes from the airport. Parking in town can be tight during the day, especially in high season. There are a few public lots, or you can park along the waterfront.
Most villas in the Gustavia area are on the hillsides around the harbor, not in town itself. The views are better up high anyway.
The Villas
We handle 40 villas in and around Gustavia. Some are in the hills with harbor views, others are closer to town or near Shell Beach. Sizes range from small studio apartments to large hilltop estates.
Villas with harbor views cost more. Properties closer to town are convenient but can have noise from restaurants and bars.
Best For
Gustavia works if you want to be in the center of things. Good for people who like restaurants, shopping, and nightlife. Less ideal if you want peace and quiet or a big sandy beach. Families might prefer areas with calmer, more spacious beaches.
