St Barts Villas in Lorient
Family-friendly beach with gentle surf and a touch of island heritage charm.
27 villas available
Lorient is a relaxed beach on the north coast, good for families, beginner surfers, and anyone looking for a local vibe. The gentle waves work for swimming or learning to surf. An offshore reef provides natural protection.
The area has a historic church and a small fishing community that keeps tradition alive.
There are a few local bakeries and shops nearby.
The Beach
Lorient Beach runs along the north coast, a long stretch of sand with body-surfable waves. The eastern end (sometimes called Lorient Beach) has more waves and attracts surfers. The western end (Plage de Lorient) is calmer.
The beach faces north, so you get some wind and waves, especially in winter. Good for bodysurfing or learning to surf. Less ideal if you want completely calm water for small children.
Surfing
Lorient is one of the few beaches on the island where you can surf. Waves are generally small and manageable, good for beginners. Local kids learn here. You won't find big waves like Hawaii, but it's fun for bodysurfing and small wave riding.
Bring your own board. No surf shops or rentals right on the beach.
Local Character
Lorient has more of a local feel than tourist areas like St. Jean. There's a Catholic church that dates back centuries, and the neighborhood still has families who've lived here for generations.
Maya Gurley, a local baker, runs a small bakery that's worth finding. Opens early for fresh bread and pastries.
Restaurants and Shops
A few small restaurants and takeout spots are scattered around Lorient. Nothing fancy, mostly local food. The nearby village has a small grocery store and bakery.
For more options, St. Jean is 5 minutes away.
Getting Around
Lorient is 5 minutes from the airport, 5 minutes to St. Jean, and 15 minutes to Gustavia. Central location makes it easy to reach other beaches and restaurants.
The Villas
We handle 27 villas in Lorient. Some are near the beach, others on hillsides with views. Sizes vary from small houses to larger estates. Architecture tends to be more traditional than ultra-modern.
Pricing is generally moderate. Lorient offers good value compared to St. Jean or beachfront areas.
Best For
Lorient works well for families who want a real beach with waves. Good for surfers or anyone who likes bodysurfing. The local vibe appeals to people who want to feel less touristy. Less ideal if you want calm water for very young children or if you prefer beach clubs and organized activities.
