Description
Stellae is a contemporary hillside estate. Its architecture is a study in clean lines and organic warmth, defined by a high, open pavilion with exposed dark timber beams overhead. Crisp white walls and light stone floors form a neutral canvas, dramatically offset by rich, warm-toned wood and punctuated by bold artistic statements.
The property unfolds via a cascading layout, a series of terraces and living spaces descending the Camaruche hillside. This is a villa designed not for passing through, but for a journey, descending from the main house at the summit through tropical gardens to a second pool below, all framed by floor-to-ceiling glass that erases the distinction between interior and exterior. The flow of space is intentionally fluid. From the air-conditioned living room with its white sofas, you look straight through sliding glass doors to a covered terrace that functions as an outdoor living room. The kitchen connects to this terrace via a pass-through bar, creating a natural hub for gathering. This upper level feels expansive and connected, a place where you can watch the sunset from a sofa or gather around the dining table for ten. Stone steps then lead you down through the landscape, past a reading nook with a bright lime green hammock, toward the lower entertainment terrace.
Outdoor living is the true centerpiece. The upper terrace, with its covered dining and lounge area, is anchored by a striking red grand piano facing the ocean. Steps away is the first of two pools: a long, rectangular heated pool measuring 13.1 by 9.8 feet. From here, the property unfolds down the hillside. You’ll find a gas BBQ, a sun deck, and a pool table on the lower terrace. Further into the garden, a second, natural-shaped pool offers a more organic swim, complemented by a Jacuzzi. The grounds are dotted with discoveries: a petanque court, dedicated areas for outdoor massage, and that quiet reading hammock. The outdoor equipment list is comprehensive, including a half bath, WiFi, and a coded entrance gate for security.
Inside, the main living area reinforces the seamless indoor-outdoor connection. The open-plan design centers on a well-equipped kitchen that opens directly to the terrace, making entertaining effortless. The interior aesthetic continues the theme of modern elegance, serving as a calm backdrop to the vibrant outdoor vistas and artistic flourishes. Each of the six bedrooms is an ensuite sanctuary with a queen bed, air conditioning, a safe, and a TV with satellite channels. All include a coffee maker, teapot, and a small fridge. The first three are on the main floor of the primary villa. Bedrooms 1 and 2 offer garden views and are equipped with Apple TV, Dish, and Canal satellite. Bedroom 3 shares the same generous queen size and suite of entertainment options, also looking out to the garden. The remaining bedrooms provide more distinct settings and greater privacy. Bedroom 4 is situated on the lower level, maintaining the same high standard but placing it closer to the activity of the lower garden and pools.
Bedrooms 5 and 6 are the standouts for seclusion, housed in separate, independent bungalows nestled within the tropical vegetation. These bungalows carry a more colonial or Caribbean style. Bedroom 5 features the standard queen bed, US and French satellite, and its own private terrace. Bedroom 6 is similarly appointed, with a fan in addition to air conditioning and French satellite. This configuration gives some guests their own detached retreats within the same gated estate. The location of Villa Stellae is a key part of its appeal. It is situated in a quiet area on the heights of Camaruche, overlooking Lorient Bay. The beach is accessible, and the drive from the airport takes between ten and twenty minutes without requiring a 4x4 vehicle. You’re within walking distance of Lorient Beach, known for its surf and calm waters, as well as local grocery stores and a bakery. This combination of hillside privacy with easy beach and village access is a significant advantage.
