St Barts Villas in Colombier
Accessible only by boat or trail, this secluded cove is St Barts' postcard moment.
Colombier Beach is the island's most well-known remote beach. You can only get there by hiking 30 minutes from Flamands or taking a boat. The beach is a crescent of sand with clear, calm water.
The hike has good views along the way. Snorkeling is good near the rocks. The water is sheltered and calm.
No facilities or buildings, just the beach. Bring water, snacks, and sunscreen.
The Beach
Colombier Beach sits at the end of a protected cove on the northwest tip of the island. The beach is maybe 150 meters of white sand with clear, calm water. No facilities, no restaurants, no loungers. Just the beach.
You get there by hiking 30 minutes from Flamands or taking a boat. Most people hike. The trail is rocky and gets hot, so start early and bring water.
Snorkeling is good near the rocks on either side of the beach. You'll see fish, sometimes turtles.
The Hike
The trail starts from the parking area at the end of the Flamands road. It's about 1.5km, mostly downhill on the way there, uphill coming back. Takes 25-30 minutes each way.
Wear proper shoes (not flip-flops). The path is rocky and uneven in places. Bring water, sunscreen, and snacks. There's nothing at the beach.
By Boat
You can reach Colombier by boat, which takes about 15 minutes from Gustavia. Some villas have boats, or you can rent one. A few water taxi services run there during high season.
Coming by boat lets you bring a cooler and beach gear more easily.
The Villas
The Colombier area (meaning the hillsides around the beach, not the beach itself) has 31 villas. None are directly on Colombier Beach, which is protected. Villas are on the hills above Flamands and around the western coast.
Properties here tend to be more remote and private. Many have dramatic ocean views and are set back from main roads. Good for people who want isolation.
Getting Around
The Colombier area is 20 minutes from the airport, 15 minutes to St. Jean, and 25 minutes to Gustavia. Roads wind through the hills. You'll need a car.
Best For
Colombier Beach itself is best for people who want an adventure and don't mind the hike. The surrounding villa area works for anyone wanting privacy and dramatic scenery. Less ideal if you want easy beach access or nearby restaurants.
