St Barts Villas in St. Jean
A vibrant hub of beach clubs, water sports, and iconic Caribbean glamour.
St. Jean is the beating heart of St Barts' beach scene, known for its lively atmosphere, upscale restaurants, and iconic beach clubs.
The long stretch of golden sand is divided by a small headland, creating two equally inviting sections — one with calm waters ideal for swimming, the other with more space for water sports.
The Beach
St. Jean Beach stretches nearly half a mile along the north coast, with soft white sand and turquoise water. The Eden Rock peninsula divides the beach into two sections. The western side tends to be calmer, good for families with small children. The eastern section has more open water and hosts water sports like kitesurfing and paddleboarding.
You'll find beach clubs along the shore, including Nikki Beach. Most have loungers, umbrellas, and lunch service. The water stays shallow for quite a distance, making it easy to wade in.
Restaurants and Nightlife
The area around St. Jean has more restaurant options than anywhere else on the island outside Gustavia. Le Glacier serves breakfast and coffee. Sand Bar at Eden Rock does lunch right on the water. For dinner, there's Maya's (local Creole food), Kiki-è Mo (Thai), and Le Diamant (French).
Nikki Beach hosts DJ sets and parties during high season, usually December through April. It's one of the few places on the island with anything resembling a club scene.
Shopping and Services
The main road through St. Jean has the island's only supermarket (Marché U), gas station, and pharmacy. There's also a small commercial center with boutiques, a bank, and a few shops. You can walk to most of it from the beach.
Getting Around
St. Jean is 10 minutes from the airport — close enough that you'll see planes landing over the beach. It's 5 minutes to Lorient, 10 minutes to Gustavia, and 15 minutes to Colombier or Grand Cul de Sac. Most villas have parking, and you'll want a car since taxis are expensive.
The Villas
We handle 68 villas in St. Jean, from small two-bedroom houses near the beach to large hillside estates with ocean views. Beachfront villas book early, especially for Christmas and New Year. Hillside properties cost less but still give you easy beach access.
Best For
St. Jean works well if you want to be in the center of things. Families like it because the beach is safe and shallow. Groups appreciate having restaurants and nightlife within walking distance. It's not the quietest area on the island, but it's convenient.
