Description
Villa What Else looks west. Every level of the villa is crafted to capture a sweeping panorama of the sea, encompassing Pointe Milou, Lorient Bay, and the offshore islands of Île Toc Vers, Île Fregate, and Île Bonhomme. This deliberate westerly aspect frames the villa’s primary feature: exceptional sunset views.
Each evening, the terrace becomes a front-row seat as the sky ignites in a spectacle of color, reflecting off the water and washing the villa’s rich wooden surfaces in a warm, golden light. The view is not merely a backdrop but the central organizing principle of this St. Barts luxury villa, with terraces and rooms cascading down the hillside to ensure that connection to the sea is constant and immersive. That connection begins in the great room. Under a high ceiling of warm, reddish-brown wood, the open-concept living, dining, and kitchen area forms a single, flowing space. Large sliding glass doors retract completely, opening the interior to the outdoors and allowing the ocean breeze to circulate.
The living area is furnished with plush sofas in a minimalist style, accented by exotic island antiques and artifacts that add a layer of tropical mystique. A large flat-screen TV is provided for comfortable movie nights. Across the room, the indoor dining area features a beautiful weathered-wood table that seats eight guests for festive dinners. Throughout, the dominant palette of Balinese-inspired wood tones is contrasted against white walls and linens, with vibrant blue cushions mirroring the sea beyond. Woven pendant lights and geometric wooden latticework add distinctive texture to this cozy yet expansive room. Adjacent to the dining area, the open kitchen is fully equipped for any culinary endeavor. It features an oven, a microwave, a toaster, and both an espresso machine and a coffee maker. You’ll find a juicer and a blender for fresh drinks, along with a full refrigerator, a separate freezer, and an ice machine. A dishwasher handles cleanup.
The kitchen’s most clever feature is a pass-through window that opens directly to the outdoor dining terrace, making it effortless to serve meals al fresco. This thoughtful design underscores the villa’s easygoing, indoor-outdoor philosophy. The villa’s four bedrooms are configured across two levels, each occupying its own private pavilion for enhanced privacy. Two primary bedrooms are located on the main living level. These master rooms feature Euro king beds, spacious en-suite bathrooms, and direct access to the terrace and the panoramic ocean view. Their design upholds the villa's warm, natural aesthetic through a palette of rich, organic hues and furnishings crafted from wood. The en-suite bathrooms are modern and large, with some featuring distinctive pebble-textured walls that add a natural, tactile element. These rooms are bathed in the same golden sunset light that defines the living areas. One floor down, a pair of supplementary bedrooms provides serene and secluded quarters. While slightly smaller in footprint, they are no less luxurious, each also equipped with a Euro king bed and a large, modern en-suite bathroom.
Crucially, they maintain the villa’s prized ocean views, ensuring every guest shares in the vista. These lower-level pavilions provide quiet places to relax and recharge, their design still featuring the warm woodwork imported from Bali that characterizes the entire property. This split-level arrangement allows for both togetherness and privacy. Life at Villa What Else is lived predominantly outside. The main terrace is a multi-functional outdoor room anchored by an 11-meter by 3-meter infinity pool. With its steps for easy entry, the pool’s vanishing edge creates a visual flow into the ocean horizon. Sun loungers line the water’s edge for basking in the Caribbean sun. For shaded relaxation and dining, a spacious gazebo covers the outdoor living area.
Here, a second lounge sofa provides a magnificent setting for evening cocktails, directly facing the sunset. Under the gazebo, an eight-seater outdoor dining table is perfectly positioned for alfresco meals, easily served via the kitchen’s pass-through window. A gas BBQ stands ready for grilling, and an outdoor sound system sets the mood. Beyond the main terrace, a separate grassy nook is set up with additional sunbeds, offering a softer, more secluded spot to unwind. The villa’s location in Pointe Milou is both convenient and privileged. The property is perched just above The Christopher Hotel, placing its pool club, dining, and spa amenities within an easy stroll. It is a 10 to 20-minute drive from Gustaf III Airport, and a 4x4 vehicle is not required for access. Several of the island's most celebrated shores are mere minutes by car; Lorient Beach, famed for snorkeling in its sheltered reef, and the more tranquil Marigot Bay Beach are each approximately a five-minute journey.
The vibrant shops and elegant restaurants of St. Jean are approximately ten minutes away by car. The villa ensures secure and ample parking with a coded entrance gate, covered parking for three cars in a garage on the lowest level, and additional outside parking space. With its warm, organic modernism, open indoor-outdoor flow, and uncompromising focus on westerly ocean and sunset views, Villa What Else offers a singular experience. Its use of Balinese woodwork creates an atmosphere of laid-back comfort, while its multi-level, pavilion-style layout provides both communal spaces and private retreats.
